John W. Harrington, MD, FAAP is Professor of Pediatrics and Division Director of General Academic Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. He has received multiple grants and is widely published in his main areas of interest; autism, obesity, and vaccine delivery. John has been senior editor for both Consultant and Consultant for Pediatricians for over the last 10 years and the periodical Current Problems in Pediatric and Adolescent Health Care. He recently was inducted into both the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha at EVMS and has won numerous teaching awards including the Outstanding Faculty Award at EVMS. He has been recognized regionally and nationally for his work in helping families of children with autism and being an “Immunization Champion” in the state of Virginia by his AAP chapter. He is the co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Associations special interest group for “Division Directors”. He is married with three children; 2 neuro-typical daughters aged 24 and 20, and a 22 year old son with autism, who is now a gainfully employed worker at a regional medical center in Chesapeake.
