SUMMARY:Creating Trauma Sensitive Schools Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Attachment and Trauma Network (“ATN”) continues to monitor policies and procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as any other community-wide health issues. The safety of our attendees\, staff\, speakers\, and volunteers at our 2022 CTSS Conference is our top priority. We are following guidance of federal\, state\, and local agencies to implement best practices aimed at managing the spread of the virus. \nGiven the desire of ATN’s Board of Directors to keep everyone as safe as possible\, ALL attendees of the 2022 in-person conference must be fully vaccinated–including attendees\, presenters\, exhibitors\, staff\, volunteers\, and sponsors. Registered conference attendees\, staff and volunteers will receive information on how to verify their vaccination status using a free\, simple\, secure\, and HIPAA-compliant third-party vendor. Fully vaccinated\, for the purpose of this policy\, is defined as receiving two doses of either Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of Johnson & Johnson. Additionally\, we recommend that all attendees eligible for booster vaccines receive one prior to the conference; however\, at this time\, boosters will not be required to attend. \nWe recognize that vaccination is a personal choice and for some not medically advised. We also recognize that for some being in large crowds can feel too overwhelming right now. This is why we are offering the Virtual Portion of our conference on February 24 & 25\, 2022. We urge those who can not attend the In-Person Conference to consider the Virtual option. \nIn addition to the vaccine requirement\, we will be requiring that all attendees\, presenters\, exhibitors\, staff\, volunteers and sponsors at the In-Person Portion of the conference wear masks in all sessions\, the exhibit hall\, and common conference areas. We are considering additional safety measures as part of our onsite mitigation plan. Conclusive decisions on these will be made closer to the conference date in February. These considerations include social distancing\, color-coded systems to show personal social distance comfort\, etc. We continue to monitor and evaluate the outlook for in-person events and will share updates as they are available. We will post more information about what you can expect onsite as we get closer to our event dates. \nATN will have measures in place to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus; however\, ATN\, under no circumstances\, is able to guarantee that you or a guest will not become infected with the virus or any other community spreading illness while in attendance at the 2022 CTSS Conference. \nAdherence to ATN In-Person event policies and guidelines will be monitored and enforced. If for any reason\, you do not feel you will be able to comply with ATN’s policies\, please consider our Virtual Conference. \nPurchasing an In-Person Conference and/or a Pre-Con ticket confirms you understand and agree to abide by all of the above. \nThis policy was approved by Board of Directors on December 8\, 2021. \n\n\nHow does an “asynchronous” In-Person/Virtual Conference Work?\nBecause we had so many previous attendees express the wish to attend this conference in-person\, and just as many expressing interest in attending virtually\, the most practical solution we could devise was to have two portions to the conference — one In-Person in Houston\, TX\, Feb 20-22\, 2022. And one Virtual – Feb 24-25\, 2022. There are several benefits to this asynchronous conference: \nIt’s really TWO conferences on Creating Trauma Sensitive Schools in one. The agendas\, keynotes\, and workshops are completely different. \nWith a “gap day” of Wed\, Feb 23\, it is possible to attend BOTH. Attendees can come to Houston then travel home on Wednesday and join us virtually on Thursday & Friday. Or you can access the virtual portion of the conference for up to 90 days afterwards. \nYou have options — given the unknown nature of the pandemic\, it’s good to know that you have a choice of how to attend this important conference. \nPricing has been structured to make it affordable to attend either in-person or virtual…with a special discount for those attending BOTH. \n\n\nPurchase Orders- important information\nATN invites schools and other institutions to reach out to us regarding purchase orders. \nWe strongly prefer prepayment of purchase orders. \nIf your institution cannot prepay on a purchase order (have full payment made\, with cash/check/card) prior to the Conference\, please contact us and let us know that. We can then determine whether we can accept your purchase order. \nIf any portion of the Conference fills to capacity\, preference will be given to fully paid Purchase Orders over post-event payments. \nUPDATE YOUR VENDOR RECORDS- ATN has a new address for remittances. This was used last year but many school systems did not update our information in their records. We cannot be responsible for payments sent to any address besides the one below. We will only receive payments sent to this address. \nPayment address: \nAttachment & Trauma Network\, Inc. \nATTN: S. Garde \nPO Box 220 \nWestminster\, MA 01473 \nContact conference@attachtrauma.org \n\n\nRecordings (Virtual Portion Only)\n\nThe Virtual Conference Recordings will be available for 90 days.\nOnly available workshops/keynote addresses will be recorded.\nWe are limited by the agreements we have with our presenters.\nAny recordings that have less than 90 days will be noted.\nContent of workshops and keynotes belong to the presenters\, and no downloading or copying of these recordings will be permitted.\n\nTechnology/Access (Virtual)\n\nVirtual CTSS2022 will be on the Pathable platform\, using Zoom.\nSee Zoom’s guidelines for specific internet speed and system requirements.\nGenerally\, all attendees will need access to the internet\, a device that is connected to the Conference Platform\, and working speakers for audio.\nWorking microphone and camera needed to participate in interactive sessions.\nPhones can be used to access the platform\, although not recommended unless needed for sound/microphone. Tablet/desktop/laptop recommended.\n\n\n\nTechnology/Access (In-Person)\nOur Conference App\, provided by Pathable\, will be available and will be the main communication device to all In-Person Attendees. \nAccess to this App will be given prior to the Conference to Paid Attendees. \nThe App will be available for both Android and iOS phones. \n\n\n  \nCEUs and Certificates of Attendance (Both Conferences)\n\n\nVIRTUAL ATTENDEES: You must download your COAs prior to the end of the 90 days. After 90 days\, the COAs will no longer be available to print. \n\n\nRefunds\nJanuary 15\, 2022 is the last day for refunds. \nRefunds of registration fees\, minus a $50 processing fee\, will be given if requested prior to January 15. All refunds will be issued at ATN’s discretion either by check or ticketing refund. After January 15\, 2022\, no refunds will be given. Requests for refunds must be emailed to ATN prior to January 15\, 2022. Email only\, no phone calls. conference@attachtrauma.org \nCancellation policy\nOur Conferences will occur from February 20 to February 25\, 2022. ATN is not responsible for weather\, travel issues\, interruptions to internet service\, pandemic\, or equipment failure. \n\n\nUpdated information can be found at https://www.attachmenttraumanetwork.org/conference/ \nContact conference@attachtrauma.org with any questions.

SUMMARY:Let’s Focus on Fun: Spotlight on Therapeutic Recreation
DESCRIPTION:Since 2012\, February has been designated and celebrated as Therapeutic Recreation Month in the United States. \n  \nTherapeutic recreation\, also known as recreational therapy\, is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions\, as a means to psychological and physical health\, recovery and well-being. In other words\, recreational therapy quite literally uses activity—and fun—to advance the process of rehabilitation. Recreational therapy can be conducted one-on-one between patient and caregiver\, or by way of group sessions. \n  \nWe hope you’ll join us in marking the occasion by joining this webinar to learn about programs offered in the City of Alexandria\, and Arlington\, Fairfax\, and Loudoun Counties and how to participate. \n  \nTherapeutic Recreation Services provides specialized services for individuals with disabilities in adapted and general recreation programs. Opportunities are available for children\, teens and adults with disabilities to develop the skills that enable them to participate in the recreation and leisure programs of their choice. \n  \nOur presenters for this program are:\n• Lyndzey Elliott\, Program Manager\, Therapeutic Recreation\, Fairfax County\n• Caitlyn Shann\, Therapeutic Recreation Programmer\, Arlington County\n• Chloe Hodge\, Therapeutic Recreation Programmer\, Arlington County\n• Maria Auger\, Adaptive Recreation Coordinator\, Loudoun County\n• Jackie Person\, Director of Therapeutic Recreation\, City of Alexandria \n  \n  \nNote: Due to ongoing health and safety concerns regarding COVID-19\, this is workshop will be held as a Zoom online webinar. \n  \nRemember\, all of our webinar events are FREE to attend\, but pre-registration is required.

SUMMARY:ADOS-2 Training Workshop
DESCRIPTION:ADOS-2 Training Workshop with Booster Training\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nSix. That’s the average age of diagnosis for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. And that’s a shame. Because a reliable diagnosis can be made as early as age two. And when it comes to diagnosing ASD\, the sooner\, the better. \nWe’re thrilled to offer this new\, progressive approach to teaching clinical professionals to diagnose autism using the second edition of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2). We recognize that confidence and expertise come from practice and experience\, so in addition to a three-day virtual workshop\, this program includes a follow-up booster coaching session. Virtual sessions will be held on Zoom. \nIn order to receive their certificate\, participants must have their cameras turned on and actively participate in the training. \nTraining starts on Wednesday\, February 16th at 8:30 am. \nBecause referrals can cause lengthy delays\, being able to make the diagnosis yourself saves precious time. So\, we’ve designed this program for professionals on the front line— psychologists\, licensed professional counselors\, clinical social workers and speech pathologists— empowering you to intervene at the first suspicion of a developmental delay. \nUpon completion of the three-day workshop\, participants will be able to:\n• Describe the essential features\, and the advantages and disadvantages\, of the ADOS-2 as a measure of social communication and behavior. \n• Identify the variables that need to be considered in determining which module of the ADOS to use: mental age\, chronological age\, expressive language abilities \n• Select the appropriate module to administer for a given child \n• Describe the purpose of\, and the focus of observation for\, each of the tasks within each of the four modules \n• Understand the administration the tasks within each of the four modules \n• Discuss how to code the child’s language and communication\, reciprocal social interaction\, play\, stereotyped behaviors and restricted interests\, and other abnormal behaviors based on the child’s performance on tasks. \nBecause of the hands-on\, interactive nature of this workshop\, participation will be limited to 20 people. \nYou’ll learn to:\n• Explain the importance of early diagnosis and intervention to your colleagues and clients. \n• Use the ADOS-2 to diagnose autism spectrum disorders in clients as young as age two. \n• Explain testing results to clients and caregivers and refer them to support services. \n• Seek and provide support and guidance within a network of fellow practitioners. \n  \nThis Training Program has multiple components to provide plenty of practice and reinforcement:\n– Three-day Instructor-Led Virtual Workshop (February 16\, 17\, & 18 / 8:30a-4:30p EST) \n– Small Group Booster Session (May 20 / 1:00p-4:00p EST) \nAt 3 months: participants will watch an ADOS administration video conducted by a participant or from training video archives. Participants will participate in an interactive discussion on coding and provide participants with feedback on their scoring of the protocol. Format of these sessions will be individualized based on organization and participants’ needs and training goals. \n  \nNOTES: \n\nRegistration will close on Friday\, February 11th at 12:00PM EST.\nIn order for training to take place\, there must be at least 10 registrants.\nParticipants will be provided with the 5-module protocols for the training and a certificate of attendance.\nParticipants must have their own copy of the ADOS-2 manual and a working camera/microphone in order to participate in the training. Cameras must be on during the entire training in order to receive a certificate of attendance.\nThere will be a break to allow time for lunch on your own.\nCurrently CEs are not available for this course.\n\n\n\nCancellation & Refund Policy \n\nTraining/Webinar course registrations will not be confirmed until registration is complete and billing information is received in full.\nPlease submit all cancellation requests no later than 30 days prior to the scheduled course date in order to receive a 90% refund of paid registration fees.\nCancellations between 30 and 7 days prior to scheduled course are subject to a 50% refund of paid registration fees.\nNo shows and cancellations made within 7 days or less prior to the scheduled course will incur the full cost of registration.\nCA Human Services reserves the right to cancel any training course due to insufficient enrollment at least 15 calendar days in advance of the scheduled course date. Notice will be provided with the option to reschedule for a future course date or to receive a full refund of registration fees.\nCA Human Services is not responsible for any expenses incurred by the customer if a training course is cancelled.\nIf a training class is cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances such as weather or natural disaster\, the customer is entitled to reschedule for a future training course.

The length of stay varies with each resident\, their skill level and goals. The ultimate goal of this program is for participants to move into their own apartment with just a little bit of ongoing support. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, February 2 from 5:00-7:00pm at CA’s Adult Program Residence\, learn about the process and what we have to offer. Come for the whole two hours to socialize or just long enough to ask your questions and tour the house! CA staff and current residents will be on site to answer your questions. \nCA will be providing light refreshments.

SUMMARY:CA Adult Programs Open House
DESCRIPTION:Come tour CA’s Adult Program residence and speak with the staff and residents about the program.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nMany adults with autism spectrum disorder and related needs want to move out of their parents’ home but don’t know where to begin. Their parents are equally anxious for them to be independent. CA’s transition program equips clients with the skills they need to eventually live independently with just a little bit of support. \nWe coach\, support and encourage our clients\, helping them begin the transition to independence. \nOur residential program offers transitional housing for adults with autism and related needs who are interested in developing the life skills necessary to live on their own. The length of stay varies with each resident\, their skill level and goals. The ultimate goal of this program is for participants to move into their own apartment with just a little bit of ongoing support. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, November 10 from 5:00-7:00pm at CA’s Adult Program Residence\, learn about the process and what we have to offer. Come for the whole two hours to socialize or just long enough to ask your questions and tour the house! CA staff and current residents will be on site to answer your questions. \nCA will be providing light refreshments.

SUMMARY:Preschool Inclusion Information Webinar
DESCRIPTION:CA Human Services will present on our Inclusive Preschool initiative\, providing information and resources for interested childcare providers\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nCA Human Services strives to fill service gaps for Virginians with autism of all ages. Parents of young children with autism frequently report issues finding a preschool program for their child that can accommodate the specific needs and behavioral concerns of their child. CA Human Services is looking to partner with preschools in Virginia to create an inclusive environment where children with autism can develop and learn alongside their neurotypical peers. This program taps into additional funding streams previously inaccessible to professionals to cover the cost of the resources needed to sustain inclusivity in the classroom. Grant funding is available to cover start-up costs\, and CA seeks to partner with these preschools to provide consultative assistance while the inclusivity program is undergoing initial implementation. By accessing funding previously unutilized\, CA can help preschools expand their services and recruit additional students. \n  \nAny individual interested in learning more about this partnership\, or interested in implementing it in their preschool program should attend this virtual webinar to gain more information. The webinar will cover program basics\, costs\, hiring requirements\, and funding. Time will be allotted at the end of the webinar for a Q&A session. We hope to see you there!
