We offer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for toddlers, young children, adolescents, and young adults enrolled in higher education, although at times a more focused evaluation can be completed upon discussion with your clinician. Our team is comprised only of pediatric neuropsychologists who are formally trained in neurodevelopment and working with children who may have something notable about their early development or medical history. Dr. McGill also has a subspecialty in mTBI/concussion and is able to provide individualized concussion management and evaluation services for children and adults.

Our goal is to help understand how a child processes information and how they learn best. We also can provide valuable information to medical and other therapeutic providers to tailor treatment and intervention plans. Often, children who struggle with attention, multitasking, organization, or keeping up with the pace of work benefit from this evaluation. We can help to determine to what extent a child may have academic weaknesses or exhibit a learning disability. Finally, if stress or more significant anxiety/depression is of concern, we can understand the effect of those emotional factors on the child’s overall functioning. Even the brightest kids can have specific areas of weakness and we are able to identify their strengths and challenges through the evaluation to make sure an intervention in the home, school, medical, and/or therapeutic setting is exactly what that individual child needs.

Our process begins with sending you clinical forms and additional details about the appointment approximately 2 months in advance of the child’s testing date. Next, the clinician engages in a clinical interview/intake with the parent(s) / guardian(s) and child (virtually or in-person) and conducts the in-person assessment of the child (4 to 8 hours depending on the type of assessment and age of the child). After all testing is completed, the clinician will discuss all results with the family (virtually or in-person). Typically, we can accomplish the testing in 1 day; however, at times a second day of testing is needed to ensure we are getting the child’s absolute best performance or if a lengthier battery of tests is required. After the testing/interviews and discussion of results are completed, we then issue a comprehensive report within approximately 2 weeks. Throughout and after the evaluation process, we remain available to you and any other person involved in your child’s care to answer questions as needed.
