Here at A Mother’s Rest, we use the term “extra needs” in place of “special needs”. Your child does not need an IEP or have to be significantly cognitively delayed for you to participate. “Extra Needs” includes so much more than just physical & cognitive differences. It’s not just Down syndrome, CP, & autism. Families facing injury, trauma, medical crises…abuse, abandonment, neglect…children who have been adopted or been through the foster system….children who are experiencing addictions.
